WMIC Articles

This page compiles a selection of articles that I have written about WMIC.  WMIC is a command-line console to access Windows machines via Windows Management Instrumentation, a framework established by everyone's favorite software vendor for locally and remotely managing Windows boxes.  It is built-in to the non-home editions of all versions of Windows beginning with XP Pro (including 2003, Vista, and 2008), although it can be used to manage Windows 2000 systems remotely with admin credentials.  Before WMIC, you had to write scripts or get a specialized tool to pull data via WMI.  But no more…  WMIC gives us command console access to the powerful framework of WMI.
